BASIC PURPOSE

In collaboration and partnership with the Arts, Education & Camp Manager, the Summer Camp Lead will oversee the day-to-day operations of Summer Camp to include compliance with sign-in and sign-out procedures. The Summer Camp Lead will provide direct program supervision to the Summer Camp Staff, as well as ensure compliance with The Salvation Army Child Safety Policies and Procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Meet regularly with the Arts, Education & Camp Manager to discuss the program operations and any complex situations impacting the program and/or its participants.
  2. Participate in the development and implementation of objectives, policies, and priorities for the Summer Camp program.
  3. Involvement with recruitment, selection, and evaluation of the Summer Camp program staff and volunteers.
  4. Provide the Arts, Education & Camp Manager with supply orders as needed.
  5. Responsible for scheduling Kroc Center venues for Summer Camp programs.
  6. Ensure completion of incident reports and follow reporting protocols.
  7. Instruct Summer Camp staff to lead participants in recreational activities with enthusiasm.
  8. Cultivate teamwork between the Summer Camp and Kroc Center facility staff.
  9. Maintain accurate record-keeping of waivers, guardian information, and staff documentation for all participants.
  10. Complete report to guardians to inform of any camper injury, behavioral issues, and/or disputes.
  11. Facilitate any needed and/or on-going communication with guardians.
  12. Plan and prepare supply orders for all program activities. Conduct regular inventory of supplies and provide orders to Arts, Education & Camp Manager.
  13. Adhere to confidentiality and privacy policies.
  14. The Lead will oversee compliance of sign-in and sign-out procedures.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Education, Liberal Arts, or related field

preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  2. Minimum of two years experience programming for recreation relative to the size of the Suisun City Kroc Center.
  3. Minimum of two years prior experience supervising and managing recreational or early childhood staff.
  4. Must be a person of high integrity, willing to support, and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
  5. Possess leadership skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to maintain positive and professional interactions with Kroc Center associates, guardians, guests, and the public.
  6. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  7. Must have command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Required to work flexible hours, weekends, and evenings.
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office skills.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    1. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  2. Physical mobility to grasp, push, pull objects and/or reach overhead.
  3. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  4. Use of auditory and visual senses to communicate with staff, participants and guardians.
  5. Ability to verbally communicate with staff, participants, and guardians.
