Position Day Camp Counselor Location/Dept. Corps Schedule: M-F, 8:00AM - 5:00PM

Reporting Relationship: Child Care Coordinator, Assistant Child Care Coordinator, Music Ministry Assistant, Head Counselors Salary: $12.75 per hour

Responsibilities

Provide a safe, fun, and caring environment for children enrolled in the Summer Day Camp program. Counselors are responsible for leading the group of children in assigned activities and implementing procedures.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Lead children through activities with enthusiasm and assist with presentation of daily program offers: organized activities, theme activities, devotions, etc.
  • Consistently adhere and implement the process for child release from program to parent or organized guardian
  • Enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conductive to fun and safety for all campers
  • Initiate and maintain positive relationships with all staff, guest, children, and parent/guardian.
  • Work in a team environment and communicate with Child Care Coordinator daily regarding concerns/issues with the program, children, parents, and coworkers
  • Assist in maintaining clean-up schedules to maintain the cleanliness of the building and property, including completion of task listed on daily clean-up list
  • Role model dignity and respect for others at all times. Actively participate, while encouraging children in activities
  • Ensure that all staff and children are respectful of the property, ensure all rules and regulations are followed.
  • Complete The Salvation Army KeepSAfe training and hold to all KeepSAfe guidelines
  • Support and affirm the mission of The Salvation Army, while on Salvation Army service.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

  • Be reliable and responsible
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
