Job Description

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies & Robotics - Central Support Team is currently looking for a Database Administrator position for it’s Hyderabad, India office to design, develop and manage the persistence solutions that serve and support FTR needs. Database Administrator will be part of the worldwide operations and responsible for designing, managing and maintaining highly complex, confidential, mission critical and high availability databases in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

Key job responsibilities
- Ownership of huge fleet of databases, working on a variety of development and maintenance projects in coordination with project and application teams.
- Analyze and tune database performance for high-volume, mission-critical applications
- Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls and encryption etc.
- Design and implement scalable solutions to accommodate increasing data volumes and user loads
- Rapidly diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in high-pressure situations
- Participate in oncall operations on rotation basis (follow the sun model).
- Identify and implement best practices for database administration and engineering.

A day in the life
A typical day on our team involves collaborating with other engineers deploying new Databases through our large automated systems, and operationally supporting your newly deployed software. You will seek out new approaches to automate fixes for operational issues, use AWS services to solve design problems, and engage other internal teams to integrate your applications with theirs.

Amazon fulfillment technologies & robotics (FTR) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.
Platform Engineering Services - Database Team is responsible for Engineering, Architecture, operations ,support and Scaling of databases for Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT), WWCR (WW Customer Returns), Gift Cards and Amazon Payments systems.

Basic Qualifications


- Master's degree or equivalent in Operations Research Analysis, Database Development, or a related field
- Experience with Linux
- Experience with RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL), Redshift and/or other RDBMS systems
- Experience scripting in one or more language (e.g. Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby)

Preferred Qualifications

- 1. Experience with data migration projects
- 2. Experience with Nosql databases.
