
[What the role is]
This role sits within the IT Operations Division – Infrastructure Services Management Team.
[What you will be working on]
Design, implement, and maintain Oracle, SQL Server and PostgreSQL (including pgvector) database systems to support critical banking operations
Develop and implement high availability technologies such as Oracle RAC, SQL Server Always On and PostgreSQL high availability solutions
Optimize database performance, security, and availability through proactive monitoring and tuning
Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate database solutions with other IT systems and applications
Monitor for database vulnerabilities and perform regular upgrades and patches
Automate common database maintenance tasks
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations
[What we are looking for]
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
Minimum 5 years of experience supporting Oracle and SQL Server and PostgreSQL (including pgvector) in a financial institution or similar critical environment
Oracle, MSSQL and PostgreSQL certifications
Proven experience in implementing and managing Oracle RAC, SQL Server Always On and PostgreSQL high availability solutions
Strong understanding of database security, performance tuning, and disaster recovery procedures
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python, Perl) and experience with database automation tools
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
Familiarity with database compliance standards (e.g. CIS baselines) and Government IM8
Experience with other database technologies (e.g. MySQL, Yugabyte)
Experience with installation and managing databases in AWS
