Job Description

Storage Strategies Inc. (SSI) is seeking a Database Administrator in Norfolk, VA to support Commander, Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Atlantic Fleet (CNSL) with development and maintenance of local database tools. The Database Administrator will build and maintain tools that utilize programs that are compatible with the Navy Flank Speed environment. These tools will help CNSL monitor critical inventories and maintenance capabilities onboard afloat and ashore commands. Multiple databases will be needed to cover the scope of CNSL’s assignments. Where practical, these databases should be networked to share common reference information. Further duties and responsibilities are described below.

Note: This job primarily requires remote work with occasional visits to Navy Ships and Facilities. Out-of-region travel is anticipated to be 10%.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain Navy environment friendly databases that can be used by multiple stakeholders to record, retrieve, and format inventory, maintenance and allowance data.
• Access Navy Programs and Databases to collect and update references used in automated preliminary analysis.
• Develop import, export and reporting functions within the databases to standardize data use and format.
• Collect, condition, and analyze performance data from Navy programs, provide reports and recommendations to CNSL to improve performance at individual commands.
• Develop and maintain metrics and graphic data displays that reflect maintenance capabilities and inventory trends for CNSL ships and ashore commands.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen
• SECRET Security Clearance
• Proficient in navigating Navy applications and websites such as PMSMIS, Model Based Product Support (MBPS), MCMS, and Navy Data Environment (NDE).
• Ten or more years of experience working with U.S. Navy and/or U.S. Coast Guard ships
• Five or more years of experience with shipboard communication, combat, and HM&E system operation and maintenance requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Teams, and SharePoint

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven delivery of other Navy or Coast Guard database products
• Associate's degree (or higher) in programming or database management
• Comfortable with public speaking (addressing groups up to 20)
• Experience with speaking to senior Navy leaders
• Familiar with Navy Flank Speed, and CUI data management
