Service New Brunswick is seeking an individual to join the Database Administration team within the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Operations Branch as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
As part of the Technology Services team, the SQL Server Database Administrator reports to the Manager of Database Administration and is responsible for supporting Service New Brunswick’s enterprise SQL Server environments. The role focuses on day-to-day operational support, ensuring the reliability, performance, and availability of SQL Server systems, and contributing to ongoing maintenance, optimization, and modernization initiatives within the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Operations Branch.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience administering SQL Server in an on-premises VMware environment, a solid foundation in database performance tuning and troubleshooting, and a good understanding of operational processes and standards. Experience with database monitoring tools and exposure to emerging cloud technologies will be considered assets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: A university degree in Computer Science.
Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive IT industry experience, with at least of three years of experience working directly in SQL Server database management is required.
Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application and ensure that preferred language for assessment is clearly identified.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Resumes should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years including relevant part-time and full-time employment.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Some weekday evening and weekend work hours may be required on occasion and candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
Participation within an on-call rotation after normal business hours will be required. This position may require some travelling within the province.
Candidates will be required to undergo Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment.

Salary $67, 600 to 94,406 annually – Pay Band 5 - Management and Non-Union Pay Plan
