Job Title

Database AdministratorTelstra's looking for a Database Administrator with some experience, to join a small, highly technical team supporting critical government environments. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, optimising and supporting SQL and Oracle databases that underpin key applications and services.

You’llwork in a collaborative operations environment where flexibility, technicalexpertiseand problem-solving are highly valued.

Ideally,you’llbe based in Canberra, but we can consider experienced DBA’s to be based in Sydney, also.

There’s workplace flexibility in this role; you can WFH, on-site or a mixture of both, depending on what suits you and your commitments. A minimum Active NV1 clearance isessentialto be considered for this role,and you must be able toparticipatein an on-call roster, approximately one in every ten weeks.

Whatyou’lldo

  • Manage andmaintainSQL and Oracle database environments

  • Perform database patching,upgradesand ongoing optimisation

  • Diagnose and resolve performance and availability issues (e.g. slow performance, capacity constraints, infrastructure impacts)

  • Support incident response, faultdiagnosisand service restoration activities

  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to resolve cross-platform issues

About you

  • Candidates must hold an active current Defence clearance to be considered (Minimum NV1).

  • Proven experience working as a Database Administrator (DBA)

  • Strong technicalexpertiseacross SQL and Oracle databases

  • Experience performing database patching,upgradesand troubleshooting

  • Confident working in operational environments, including incident response

  • Highly competent, hands-on technical capability (depth of skill more important than years of experience)
