Data Technician - HIM

As a Data Technician, enter patient medical record and insurance correspondence information into the clinical database, and provide reports that support Revenue Cycle/Finance, with research, and administrative functions. Also, follow-up on clinical appeals by phone and/or web, as well as searching archive database for determination letters from Payers in order to resolve denials as soon as possible. Use communication and problem solving skills to date gather and support the team’s efforts.

Required Criteria

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • If in Health Information Management, minimum of 1 year experience in medical record operating procedures and systems
  • If in Patient Case Management, minimum of 1 year of experience in medical record correspondence, denial management or insurance claims
  • Knowledge of medical/psychiatric terminology and documentation requirement
  • If in HIM, knowledge of DSM IV Coding System
  • Light typing and ability to operate PC for data entry/retrieval
  • Orientation to accuracy and detail, strong organizational and communication skills essential
  • Must be able to work with a variety of professional staff
