We are seeking a curious, talented and highly motivated Junior Generative AI and Machine Learning Engineer, who will be part of our new dynamic Solar Digital AI / ML team in Prague. In this role you will be working on state of the art and cutting-edge AI, GenAI and ML projects, supporting the continued development of Digital platform for managing our extensive fleet of industrial gas turbines. You will be focusing on supporting deployment and optimization of generative AI capabilities for a range of real-world applications in the Energy and Oil & Gas industries.

This role will support the Generative AI team in building and applying AI solutions, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to initiatives that improve efficiency and customer value.

What will be your task at this position?

• Assist in identifying, applying, training, and optimizing generative AI models (mainly LLMs), gaining hands-on experience with digital twin technologies and predictive analytics models across structured, unstructured, time-series, and text data;
• Assist in building, implementing, and optimizing machine learning models for production use in Digital Twin and Generative AI projects;
• Conduct research and stay updated on the latest advancements in generative AI and machine learning tools, applications and approaches;
• Support development of scalable and efficient pipelines for data preprocessing, model training and development;
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Data Scientists, Mechanical Engineers, Field Engineers, Analytics Specialists and service personnel to integrate models into Solar Turbines AI Service framework and Digital platforms;
• Assist in evaluating model performance and iterations to improve accuracy, efficiency and reliability to support the development of enterprise quality AI/ML systems;
• Document technical solutions and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and reproducibility.

What do we expect from a suitable candidate?

• Education in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science preferred or a related field;
• Familiarity working within an Agile environment;
• Hands-on experience in software engineering and AI/ML models or applications through coursework, projects, internships, or self-study; experience with generative AI is a plus;
• Solid foundation in Python and object-oriented programming
• Basic understanding of machine learning concepts, deep learning architectures, as well as statistical and regression modeling;
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools (Docker);
• Experience with version control technology such as git;
• Hands on experience of building and usage of REST protocols;
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment with a global team.

Nice to have:

• Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, reduced order modeling and handling of large datasets;
• Basic understanding of MLOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and model monitoring;
• Understanding of ethical AI principles and model interpretability;
• Understanding GenAI capabilities, modern solutions, protocols;
• Understanding of industrial gas turbine technology is a bonus;
• Basic understanding of technology infrastructure, software engineering principles with the ability to collaborate with those technologies, products, and engineering teams.

Base minimum pay: 64,309 CZK per month

This position requires a 5-days in the office schedule.

Any offer of employment may be conditioned upon the successful completion of a background screening.

Please note that salary is only one component of the total compensation and benefit package available at Caterpillar.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
