Job Description

The Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station (NCTAMS) is seeking an experienced Data Scientist II with deep expertise in SharePoint administration, business intelligence, and data-driven collaboration tools. This position is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining secure and efficient SharePoint environments, ensuring compliance with Navy governance and security requirements, and optimizing tools to support mission-critical operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain SharePoint Online and/or On-Premises environments.
  • Manage site collections, permissions, and security policies to ensure data integrity and controlled access.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement updates and patches.
  • Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data and ensure operational continuity.
  • Integrate SharePoint with Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams and the Power Platform
  • Automate administrative and operational tasks using PowerShell scripting
  • Enforce governance policies to maintain compliance with Navy security standards and operational protocols.
  • Customize SharePoint workflows, sites, and applications to meet organizational needs.
  • Provide user training, documentation, and ongoing support to enhance adoption and maximize system capabilities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze data requirements, develop solutions, and ensure alignment with mission goals.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with:
    • SharePoint tools, workflow development, and site customization.
    • Site and server security management.
    • Problem-solving and troubleshooting SharePoint-related issues.
    • Effective verbal and written communication.

Certifications:

  • Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) – required.

Security Clearance:

  • Active DoD SECRET clearance at the time of hire and throughout employment.
