Knowesis is looking for a Data Scientist II to support the United States Special Operations Command Preservation of the Force and Family (USSOCOM POTFF) program in identifying and implementing innovative, valuable solutions across the Special Operations Forces (SOF) enterprise aimed at improving the short and long-term well-being of SOF warriors and their families. The Data Scientist II will support all POTFF domains, providing consultation and assistance to supported units and POTFF staff to identify opportunities and methods for capturing data relating to POTFF programs and initiatives
To be eligible for this position, candidates must have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance and possess U.S. Citizenship without the need for sponsorship, both now and in the future. Applicants without proof of U.S. Citizenship will not be considered due to the position’s security clearance requirements.
The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Consult with POTFF program staff to collect, enter, clean, and conduct advanced data manipulation and statistical analyses to accurately communicate the results of a research project or convey data trends, including utilization of the Human Performance Data Management System (HPDMS) (a.k.a. Smartabase).
Proficiently utilize computers, software, technologies and collect and report data in the HPDMS.
Build and disseminate interactive databases, spreadsheets, dashboards, and reports designed to record, portray, visualize, and/or display POTFF-related data. Prepare refined reports and presentations that accurately convey data trends and associated analysis and support decision-making processes.
Provide technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance on an entire project and/or phases for broad and varied operations, such as database implementation and/or refinement.
Provide subject matter expertise in the areas of program evaluation, research methodology, and statistical analysis.
Liaise and collaborate with other POTFF staff to accomplish assigned tasks.
Perform other tasks, within the scope of the Data Scientist II position description, as assigned by the POTFF Manager and/or Coordinator and/or as required by USSOCOM HQ and its POTFF staff.
Assist the POTFF staff with survey design. Create, analyze, and report survey data.
Required Qualifications:
Possess excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication, presentation skills, and shall be highly detail-oriented.
Possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills, and social sensitivity such that they can relate constructively to a variety of contacts from diverse backgrounds.
Be Proficient with the suite of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Access.
Advanced proficiency with commonly used statistical software application (e.g., SAS, Python, and R).
Advanced proficiency may be demonstrated through an employment history in academia or other setting where the conduct of research is routine. Proficiency shall be further demonstrated by a history of scientific publications.
Three years of research experience in an academic, social services, government, healthcare or laboratory setting is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification or documented experience with Human Performance is preferred.
Experience working with Special Operations, athletics/sports, or in other military settings is preferred.
