Works under specific direction to provide analysis and develops algorithms and software for clinical and/or basic research problems.
We are seeking a data scientist to support clinical and translational research focused on pediatric pulmonary and sleep disorders, including childhood asthma, pediatric airway infections, premature infants with respiratory morbidity, children with chronic ventilator dependence, and genetic lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, and interstitial lung diseases.
Job Duties
• Assists with data organization, cleaning, integration, harmonization (e.g., clinical and biomarker data), and quality control across multiple data sources.
• Collaborates with investigators to scope analytic needs, refine research questions, and contribute to study design and analysis plans.
• Performs statistical analyses using appropriate methods and reproducible workflows.
• Provides clear tables, figures, and written summaries for manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications.
• Assists in developing, testing, maintaining, and improving in-house programs, tools, and analytic infrastructure to address specific research needs.
• Communicates complex concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences; provides guidance to help teams refine research questions and interpret findings.
• Engages with research teams (including on-site/field visits when feasible) to build rapport and understand study context, workflows, and data.
• Keeps current with statistical methods and computing skills; identifies and evaluates approaches for non-standard analyses.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have experience in data cleaning, integration, and statistical analysis, and will work closely with investigators to manage datasets, perform analyses, and generate interpretable outputs for manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications.
