Job Description

The Anti-cheat team at Embark is responsible for upholding the integrity of our games, identifying instances of unfair play, and protecting the experience of our players. We have a versatile toolbox at our disposal, which we continuously evolve and refine, including client-side protections, third-party systems, machine-learning models. Being a core function supporting all of Embark games, we collaborate with many different stakeholders throughout the organisation, such as game teams, legal and community management.

We are now looking for a well rounded Data scientist to strengthen our operational capacity. As a member of our Anti-cheat team you will, among other things, be responsible for supporting our game teams with investigations into suspicious activities, performance analyses of detection rules, exploration of data and player behavior to design new rules. Your statistical background helps you identify significant patterns, and separate signals from noise. We operate in a complex environment where billions of telemetry events and other data are collected each day from all our games.

You are likely curious to continuously learn new skills. You enjoy working autonomously and taking initiatives, while also collaborating within and across teams. You have a passion for data and technology, and feel excited to use your skills to help protect our players from unfair play and malicious actors. By being creative and experimental you aim to solve problems in a game-changing way.

Example of responsibilities

  • Perform ad-hoc investigations into suspicious patterns and gameplay behavior

  • Work with game teams and customer support to verify and explain rule detections

  • Support our Esport event teams with vetting of contestants

  • Provide reports and performance analyses of our anti-cheat operation

We would love if you have

  • A creative and curious mind.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with database querying, preferably using tools such as BigQuery

  • Proficiency in Python.

  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform.

  • Experience working with ETLs and data pipelines.

  • Experience in predictive modeling and analysis over large datasets

  • Professional English communication skills.

  • Experience and/or interest in games and anti-cheat will be considered a bonus!

At Embark we offer competitive salaries, passionate colleagues to share knowledge with and much more, but most of all we invite you to take part of a journey into the unknown, to build creative, surprising and beautiful experiences together.

We welcome game makers of all sex, class, colour, age, gender identity, education, religion, opinion, culture, nation of origin, language, sexual orientation, shape, size, and ability.

Did we leave anyone out? Well, we welcome you, too! We think that the gaming industry is made better when everyone has a seat at the table.

Be yourself at Embark and make games while doing so. Please apply with confidence. We can’t wait to hear from you (in English)!
