We have an exciting, new opportunity for a Data Scientist to join our team!
This role will work across the full lifecycle of data science projects—from exploration and experimentation to deployment and monitoring. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to solve business problems by applying machine learning, advanced analytics and generative / agentic AI to data across the Wesfarmers group. You’ll contribute to the development of scalable AI solutions and help embed data science into decision-making processes across the organisation.
What you’ll do
· Translate business challenges into analytical problems and develop data-driven solutions.
· Perform exploratory data analysis and generate actionable business insights.
· Design and execute A/B tests and other statistical experiments.
· Create clear visualisations and reports to communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
· Experiment, build and deploy machine learning and AI solutions.
· Evaluate ML/AI outputs for quality, cost, and safety.
· Monitor and maintain deployed solutions, ensuring reliability and performance.
· Leverage AI tools including coding agents, skills and plugins to accelerate experiments and enhance the quality of data science outcomes.
· Contribute to the development and adoption of data science best-practices, reusable patterns and delivery standards.
What you’ll need
· Several years of experience in data science, analytics, or AI.
· Experience with statistical analysis and hypothesis testing.
· Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and data driven AI applications.
· Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and model development.
· Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data platforms.
· Familiarity with cloud ML and AI platforms such as Google Agent Platform (formerly Vertex AI).
· Experience with AI coding tools, GenAI / agentic AI solutions and LLM evaluation.
· Experience with PowerBI or visualization tools. Experience using Snowflake, SQL, Python, Codex
· Experience with unsupervised learning, graph algorithms or causal inference.
· Application of ML / AI best practices and responsible AI.
· Google Agent Platform (Vertex AI)
· Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
· Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, AI, Computer Science, or a related field.
