Job Description

The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Data Scientist to work with our customer at Eglin AFB, FL. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Joint Staff J6 Joint Assessment Division (JAD) conduct system of systems interoperability assessments as well as Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) data centricity assessments. The Data Scientist will participate as a member of an integrated team solving technical problems during assessments for the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff.

This position is located at Eglin AFB, FL and does require daily on-site support. To be considered you must be local or willing to relocate.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Develop processes for modeling data to conduct operational analysis.
  • Work with other analysts and data engineers to develop data models, design data storage, integrate disparate data, process and curate data, and apply data science techniques to prepare data for analysis to answer measures.
  • Draw conclusions and make recommendations that improve Joint Force capabilities.
  • Knowledge of relational databases, data scripting languages (e.g., Python, R), data visualization techniques, and cloud-based computing environments.
  • Familiarity with virtual computing concepts and modern technology stacks.
  • Current baseline certification meeting IAM-II (CompTIA Security+).
  • Capability to lift 40 lbs. to support occasional movement of equipment.
  • Professional writing and oral presentation skills, MS Office proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • US Citizen with at least an active Secret security clearance.
  • Strong capacity for logical reasoning, data interpretation, and problem solving.
  • Exposure to other software development languages (e.g., c#, JavaScript, TypeScript).
  • Demonstrates advanced research methodology to deconstruct complex technical systems.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
