4Subsea is strengthening its Data Lab team with a new colleague. In this role, you will join a highly collaborative group dedicated to tackling advanced, high‑risk engineering challenges that complement the company’s core engineering activities.

Responsibilities

• Work collectively to solve high‑risk engineering challenges, applying scientific thinking and a continuous‑improvement mindset

• Advance the team’s capabilities in applied machine learning within an engineering context

• Take ownership of projects, with the autonomy to scout and propose high‑impact challenge areas, aligning priorities with senior management in regular reviews

• Partner with engineering teams to identify and solve complex problems, delivering practical solutions that enhance and inspire their daily work

• Collaborate closely with the sensor hardware department, contributing to sensor‑fusion algorithms that strengthen the company’s sensor portfolio

• Publish and present research findings in relevant forums based on ongoing work

Qualifications we value

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in engineering or data‑science roles

• Experience within offshore, maritime, or mechanical engineering is an advantage

• Master’s degree in engineering or applied mathematics, ideally with a background in mechanical or naval engineering

• Advanced proficiency in Python and the scientific Python ecosystem; experience with additional programming languages is beneficial

• Practical experience applying machine learning to engineering challenges

• Strong interdisciplinary understanding, with the ability to bridge theoretical insights and practical engineering

• Strong and clear communicator, fluent in both Norwegian and English (written and spoken)
