Job Description

Manufacturing advanced electronics requires understanding millions of signals generated across complex assembly processes. Instrumental builds systems that capture and analyze those signals — images, test results, and process data — enabling engineers to discover failures, identify root causes, and deploy production controls that improve yield and product maturity. Leading companies such as NVIDIA, Cisco, and Meta rely on Instrumental to accelerate new product development and scale manufacturing across global factories. Instrumental has become mission-critical for manufacturers building and scaling the next generation of AI infrastructure hardware.

We’re seeking a Data Quality Specialist to join our team and help scale our ability to deliver world-class manufacturing AI solutions. This role will have a direct impact on the quality of results our customers see in the Instrumental platform.

This role is ideal for a professional with a background in manufacturing or quality control. As a Data Quality Specialist, you will play a hands-on role in reviewing and analyzing customer image data in our application to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Come join us if you are meticulous and passionate about improving electronics manufacturing and love working with a global team. The ideal candidate is multi-faceted, technically savvy, organized, and deeply customer-oriented.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Set-Up Customer Program Environment: Partner with a global customer success team to ensure high-quality data ingestion post-deployment by preparing the customer environment for anomaly and defect detection. Avoid errors that could undermine AI model performance or user experience.
  • Label and Review Data: Classify product images accurately and consistently, ensuring high-quality training data for our AI models.
  • Maintain Quality Standards: Follow established guidelines and processes to avoid errors that could degrade model performance.
  • Data Reporting: Clean and refine customer image data for immediate use in summary reports. This process involves reviewing photos, summarizing key defect trends and patterns, and generating program ROI reports.
  • Process Improvement and Issue Escalation: Maintain process discipline by following established workflows. Proactively identify and flag unusual data patterns, environment changes (like new SKUs or lighting issues), or ambiguous cases, escalating them to senior team members to ensure the best possible results.

What You Have:

  • 1-2 years of work experience in a manufacturing, process or mechanical engineering or quality inspection role, ideally in the high tech electronics industry.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently and accurately.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Technically savvy and eager to learn new systems and tools.
  • Ability to learn quickly, follow structured processes, and apply feedback to improve program results.
  • Written and spoken Mandarin language skills strongly preferred.

You’re encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn’t precisely match the job description.

Instrumental offers competitive, location-based compensation. The following is a representative annual base salary range: $80,000-$106,000.

Job leveling and salary opportunity are evaluated through our interview process—we review each applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Instrumental’s benefits include: Health, Vision, Dental, Public Transit/Commuter Plans, and Parental Leave.

At Instrumental, protecting company and customer information is a shared responsibility. All employees are expected to comply with company security and privacy policies and promptly report suspected security incidents or policy violations.
