Your New Role

As Data Product Owner – Investment Data, you’ll sit within the Investment Data division of Data Services, partnering closely with Investment teams to shape, deliver and evolve high‑value investment data products across acquisition, mastering and production.

This role is critical to ensuring investment data is trusted, fit‑for‑purpose and consumable, supporting faster, higher‑confidence decision‑making in a complex, multi‑asset environment. You’ll work at the intersection of business, data platforms, vendors and governance, translating investment needs into clear, prioritised and actionable data products.

This is a role with genuine ownership and autonomy, ideal for someone comfortable making trade‑offs, setting priorities and holding their ground when supply is constrained and demand is high.

What You’ll Do

• Own the purpose, vision and success measures for investment data products, establishing clear contracts (datasets, transformations, SLAs, controls) and minimum standards for quality, metadata, ownership, lifecycle and governance.
• Shape and manage product roadmaps and prioritisation, balancing value, risk and delivery capacity, while leading fitness‑for‑purpose assessments and remediation of data sources.
• Partner with internal teams and vendors to deliver reliable, well‑governed data products and support their adoption.
• This role is for you if you enjoy product ownership, tough prioritisation calls, AI‑enabled ways of working, and being accountable for adoption and trust. It’s probably not for you if you prefer policy writing without product ownership, or governance without delivery accountability.

What You’ll Need

• Proven experience as a Product Owner for investment or financial data products, with strong understanding of investment operations, asset classes and front‑to‑back data flows, as well as the ability to engage credibly with Investment teams and translate complex needs into product outcomes.
• Demonstrated capability in defining, governing and prioritising data products across acquisition, mastering and consumption, making effective decisions in high‑demand, constrained environments.
• Technical fluency with hands‑on experience in Python, SQL and cloud‑based data patterns, enabling effective partnership with engineers.
• AI‑savvy mindset with experience using AI to improve product throughput, stakeholder comms, decisioning and/or data experiences (AustralianSuper operates with an AI‑first expectation)
• Experience with IBOR concepts and downstream impacts (highly regarded), and exposure to platforms such as Informatica, LUSID or similar (desirable).
• Curiosity, confidence, and the ability to ask the right questions — even when answers are uncomfortable.
