Job Description

You help JPMorganChase grow its business in a responsible way by anticipating new and emerging risks and using your expert judgement to solve real-world challenges that impact our company, customers and communities. Our culture in Risk Management and Compliance is all about thinking outside the box, challenging the status quo and striving to be best-in-class.

As the Data Governance & Data Product Lead in the Office of Regulation and Document Governance (ORDG), you will own the foundation layer of ORDG’s Data, Analytics & AI capability — turning policy content into governed, machine-readable data products that AI services, controls and reporting all consume. Reporting to ORDG’s Executive Data Owner, you will define and run the data-product operating model: standards, taxonomy, ownership, quality gates, certification, and lifecycle. Partnering with Technology, Data Science, Product Owners and the wider RM&C community, you will ensure the governed data foundation is trusted, reusable and defensible — so that every downstream AI capability, dashboard and control across FPSP, DOGMA, LRCM and the RM&C Bulletin Tool operates on the same authoritative source of truth.

Job responsibilities

  • Own the definition of ORDG’s trusted data products — canonical schema, Key Data Elements (KDEs), taxonomy, lineage, ownership and certification — and evolve them in response to regulatory, business and platform change.
  • Run the ORDG data governance forum: prioritise change requests, chair review and sign-off of new or amended data products, and manage the lifecycle from design through retention or destruction.
  • Establish and enforce quality gates and controls across the data foundation — completeness, conformance, KDE integrity, lineage traceability, and normativity separation — partnering with the Data Quality & Controls function on measurement and remediation.
  • Partner with Technology to translate governance intent into implemented physical data models, contracts and consumption interfaces across the governed data-product estate.
  • Coordinate with Product Owners and the Data & AI Execution Lead to ensure new AI services and product capabilities consume governed data products — preventing local rebuilds, embedded copies and capability sprawl.
  • Act as the accountable authority for data-product releases; approve versioning, publication and change communications across ORDG and consuming platforms.
  • Support the Executive Data Owner in defining the roadmap, prioritisation and success metrics for the Define & Govern Data Products workstream, and represent it in cross-workstream planning.
  • Partner with RM&C, ODG and LRCM stakeholders to align on data definitions, standards and consumption patterns, and to resolve cross-domain governance issues.
  • Contribute to ORDG’s external assurance and regulatory posture by ensuring the data foundation is auditable and defensible at any point in time.
  • Manage a Data Modeler / Data Analyst and partner closely with Data Product Domain SMEs and adjacent roles as the ORDG Data, Analytics & AI capability scales.
  • Represent ORDG in firmwide data governance forums, contributing to and drawing from broader JPMorganChase data standards, taxonomies and controls.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Substantial experience leading data governance, data product management or data stewardship in a regulated financial-services environment.
  • Deep expertise in data-product design principles — canonical models, data contracts, Key Data Elements, taxonomy management, lineage and quality frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience running a governance forum or steward community — setting standards, chairing decisions, managing lifecycle events and driving adoption across delivery teams.
  • Strong partnering track record with Technology, Data Science and Product functions; able to translate governance requirements into implementable technical outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to structure decisions and status for senior management, and to make governance choices legible to non-specialists.
  • Ability to hold quality and control discipline across multiple concurrent workstreams while retaining pace of delivery.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, inclusive of LLM Suite, Github Co-pilot, Claude, and understanding of how governed data products underpin safe AI consumption.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Prior experience owning a policy, regulatory or control-related data domain — including obligations, controls, standards or procedure content — and its transformation into a governed data product.
  • Working knowledge of Data Mesh, semantic layers, canonical modelling approaches and modern data-catalog / lineage tooling.
  • Familiarity with JPMorganChase data standards, CDAO frameworks and firmwide governance operating models.
  • Experience operating in a controlled environment with governance processes, audit interactions and documentation rigor.
