In this role, you will ensure that enterprise data assets are discoverable, trusted, governed, and reusable across the organization. You will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to build scalable data governance capabilities, enable data products, and foster a culture of data-driven innovation.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Own and drive the enterprise Data Catalog and Data Marketplace strategy, including platform implementation, onboarding, and adoption across the organization.
  • Ensure standardized metadata management, comprehensive data asset documentation, and consistent governance practices to improve data discoverability and trust.
  • Enable the creation and management of reusable data products with clear ownership, metadata standards, access controls, and quality measures.
  • Promote data reuse across domains, reducing duplication and accelerating business insights.
  • Partner closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Custodians, and business stakeholders to continuously improve catalog and marketplace capabilities.
  • Lead user enablement and training initiatives to drive adoption of self-service data products and data governance practices.
  • Gather feedback from stakeholders and translate business requirements into platform enhancements and improved user experiences.
  • Drive continuous improvement of data governance capabilities by leveraging emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise data governance, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Enable seamless integration between enterprise systems and the Data Catalog, supporting metadata ingestion, lineage, synchronization, and automation.
  • Manage platform operations, API integrations, and issue resolution to maintain stability, performance, and scalability.
  • Act as a trusted advisor across architecture, analytics, and AI initiatives, promoting transparency, accountability, and trust in enterprise data.
  • Live Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety, integrity, collaboration, and innovation while contributing to a sustainable future.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, data catalog, or related data management domains.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise Data Catalog platforms, such as Quest DI, Collibra, Alation, Atlan, or similar solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, and Data Cataloging concepts.
  • Experience working closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Custodians, and business stakeholders.
  • Exposure to modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Unity Catalog.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL and REST APIs.
  • Experience creating and managing reusable data products within Data Marketplace environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of data modeling concepts, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Experience with enterprise platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP MDG, or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Familiarity with metadata automation, API integrations, and scripting using Python, Java, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with Agile delivery and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps (ADO), or equivalent platforms.
  • Professional certifications in Data Governance or Data Management (e.g., CDMP or relevant vendor certifications) are considered an advantage.
