Are you detail-oriented with a passion for data and transforming data into insights? Do you enjoy highly analytical and investigative work that drives strategic decision-making? If so, Millennium Insurance is looking to add a Data Platform Specialist to our dynamic team!

Reporting to the Lead Data Scientist, the Data Platform Specialist will be responsible for providing data, as well as developing, optimizing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports. This role will collaborate across departments to ensure data is modeled accurately and visualized in ways that support informed business decisions.

What you will be doing

• Design, build, optimize and maintain scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to fulfill reporting needs across the organization, and to support actuarial analysis, and machine learning use cases.
• Design and implement robust data models and semantic layers to support efficient and accurate reporting in Power BI.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI dashboards and reports, ensuring they are built on well-structured, scalable data models rather than manual transformations.
• Work closely with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and software development teams to gather requirements and deliver reliable reporting solutions.
• Provide high-quality datasets for pricing, reserving, reinsurance analysis, and machine learning initiatives.
• Ensure data quality through validation, monitoring, and testing processes across pipelines and reporting layers.
• Contribute to the design and evolution of the organization’s data architecture and data governance practices.
• Support and guide business users on best practices for using Power BI and interpreting data.
• Stay current with industry trends in data engineering, business intelligence, and modern data platforms. Participate in special projects and ad-hoc analysis as required.

What you bring to the team

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field
• Master’s degree is considered an asset
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field
• Fundamentals of data modeling, data warehouse, star and snowflake schemas; normalization, and denormalization
• High level of proficiency with Excel, SQL, Power BI, DAX and at least one of Python or R
• Experience in Power BI or similar reporting platforms, including report and dashboard development
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to draw insights from complex data sets
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Data-driven mindset
• Team collaboration via Agile/Scrum methodology, git version controlling
• Experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines
• Experience working in financial services or a similar setting is an asset
