Senior Data Engineer | Data & Analytics Hub | Hybrid, Lisbon

Hiire is supporting a global enterprise technology organization in the search for a Senior Data Engineer to join a growing Data & Analytics Hub focused on building scalable data platforms and enabling data-driven decision-making across complex operational environments.

This is an opportunity to work on large-scale cloud data ecosystems that support critical business domains related to vehicle engineering, production, sales, and after-sales operations within a highly technical and international environment.

The role is particularly well suited to engineers who enjoy building robust data pipelines, working with cloud-native architectures, and solving large-scale data challenges with real business impact.

About the Product

The Data & Analytics Hub focuses on enabling data-driven insights and improving operational efficiency across multiple business areas related to engineering, manufacturing, and commercial operations.

Teams work on modern cloud-based data platforms responsible for ingesting, transforming, curating, and exposing large-scale datasets used by analytics and business stakeholders across the organization.

What You’ll Do

• Design and manage scalable data pipeline architectures for ingestion, transformation, and curation workflows

• Build and maintain cloud-native data solutions using AWS technologies

• Assemble and optimize large-scale datasets that support both functional and non-functional business requirements

• Develop ETL pipelines using Python, SQL, PySpark, and modern big data technologies

• Implement scalable infrastructure for extracting and processing data from multiple sources

• Build analytics-enablement tooling that provides actionable business insights

• Work closely with technical and business stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and production-ready

• Contribute to improving data quality, operational efficiency, and platform scalability

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Software Engineer

• Experience building cloud-native data platforms and pipelines

• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL

• Experience with PySpark or Apache Spark ecosystems

• Strong ETL and data transformation experience

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation

• Strong knowledge of AWS services such as:

  • S3

  • Athena

  • Lambda

  • Glue

  • IAM

  • SQS

• Strong analytical and communication skills

• Fluent English communication skills

Nice to Have

• Strong understanding of Data Lake and Data Warehouse architectures

• Experience with AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit)

• Experience with RDS environments

• Previous experience within automotive or industrial environments
