The opportunity

The purpose of the Data Modeler role is to design and maintain scalable, trusted, and business-aligned enterprise data models that support analytics, reporting, self-service BI, and AI-driven insights across Mirvac.

This position works under the guidance of Senior Data Modelers and Data Engineers, who provide architectural direction, complex design support, and technical oversight where required. The role is expected to operate independently on well-defined modelling tasks while escalating complex design or platform challenges to senior team members.

Working closely with Data Engineers, Senior Modelers, and business stakeholders, the Data Modeler ensures enterprise data assets are reliable, accessible, and aligned with organisational data strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

Data Modelling & Architecture

  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Develop dimensional models including fact and dimension tables using Kimball and/or other enterprise modelling methodologies.
  • Ensure data models are scalable, performant, reusable, and aligned with business requirements.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers and Modelers to support ingestion, transformation, and integration of data into enterprise platforms.
  • Maintain metadata, data lineage, business definitions, and modelling documentation.
  • Support data governance, data quality, and master data management initiatives.

Semantic Layer Development

  • Design, develop, and optimise enterprise semantic layers to support consistent reporting and analytics.
  • Build reusable business measures, KPIs, calculations, hierarchies, and business-friendly data structures.
  • Ensure semantic models are performant, scalable, and aligned with business terminology.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and standardise enterprise metrics and reporting definitions.
  • Support semantic layer optimisation for AI and Copilot-enabled analytics capabilities

Power BI Modelling & Reporting Support

  • Develop and optimise Power BI datasets and reporting structures.
  • Create and maintain relationships, measures, DAX calculations, aggregations, and row-level security.
  • Work with business users to support self-service analytics capabilities.
  • Optimise Power BI model performance, refresh strategies, and usability.
  • Support governance and best practices for enterprise Power BI implementations

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and refine data and reporting requirements.
  • Translate business concepts into scalable analytical data structures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to analysts and reporting teams.
  • Participate in workshops, solution design sessions, and project delivery activities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to enterprise data standards, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data modelling, semantic layer design, and reporting performance.
  • Support modern data platform initiatives including cloud data warehousing and AI-enabled analytics.

About you

We are seeking a Data Modeler with proven experience in the Construction industry, bringing a strong understanding of construction project, operational and commercial data, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable data solutions.

You will have:

  • Prior experience in Construction is essential
  • 5+ years of Database Design, Integration & Dimensional Modelling
  • 5+ years of experience in PowerBI (essential), EDW (Snowflake or MS Fabric) & ETL tool (Matillion, ADF or similar cloud tools)
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer or Data Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Relevant industry certifications in Data Analytics, Power BI, Cloud Platforms, or Data Management are desirable
  • Proven experience in enterprise data modelling and analytics environments.
  • Strong experience designing dimensional data models for reporting and analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with semantic layer development and enterprise BI modelling.
  • Strong Power BI experience including dataset modelling, DAX, performance optimisation, and security.
  • Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, SQL Server, or similar technologies.
  • Strong SQL development and data analysis skills.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex data concepts for business users.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
