Job Description

The Engineer II, Data Modeler is responsible for shaping and managing the data models and architecture, enabling the organization to store, analyze, and leverage large-scale healthcare data efficiently. This includes developing and implementing reliable, scalable, and effective data models for various data warehouse solutions using cutting-edge tools such as Fivetran, DBT, Snowflake, AWS, Atlan, Erwin ER Diagrams, and Sigma Computing. This role will collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders to develop a comprehensive data architecture that supports decision-making, reporting, analytics, and data governance. This role requires significant experience with dimensional models, RDBMS, cloud platforms, and ETL processes. This role will be responsible for defining and designing data models that support data governance, data quality, and master data management (MDM), while also working with stakeholders to implement data-driven solutions that enhance business outcomes in the healthcare sector. A strong focus will be placed on creating a trusted data environment by ensuring accurate data mapping, implementing Golden Record practices.

We are seeking a Data Modeler to join our Data Analytics team and design and implement a common healthcare data model that conforms to our Lakehouse medallion architecture. The ideal candidate must have an understanding of US healthcare data standards and prior experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain an analytical common data model that integrates data ingested from Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and various other transactional and healthcare data sources
  • Work closely with data engineers and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into logical and physical data models for the common data model.
  • Ensure the data model is scalable, efficient, and well-documented.
  • Utilize data modelling tools such as Erwin or ER Studio to create and design the common data model.
  • Collaborate with downstream consumer teams to ensure the data model meets their analytical and reporting needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in data modelling.
  • Prior experience with U.S. ambulatory healthcare data, including EHR and practice management systems.
  • Proven ability to design and implement a canonical common data model that can consolidate data from diverse sources.
  • Proficiency with data modelling tools
  • Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with data ingestion and ETL processing in cloud environments
  • Understand healthcare standards including HL7, FHIR, CCDA
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Exposure to Python is a plus
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Sigma a plus
