About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Governance Lead with strong data governance capabilities to join our International Health Data & Analytics team. This role will be instrumental in operationalizing data governance frameworks and driving data quality improvements across International Health. The ideal candidate will bring domain expertise in healthcare data, hands-on experience with data governance practices, and a strong understanding of data lifecycle management and agile delivery practices, supporting trusted data delivery for both operational and analytical use cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with our business areas and engineering teams to design and maintain trusted and scalable data pipelines that support governance and quality requirements.
  • Implement data governance policies and standards across healthcare datasets.
  • Develop and maintain business glossaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation using data governance best practices.
  • Work to ensure that automated data quality checks and validation rules are embedded into data pipelines to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate governance and quality controls into data ingestion, transformation, and delivery workflows.
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues impacting business operations and reporting, using root cause analysis and remediation techniques.
  • Engage and collaborate with other business and technology teams to remediate and resolve data quality issues occurring at source
  • Apply data standards to ensure compliance and relevance in engineering solutions.
  • Use governance tools such as Collibra / AWS Glue DQ or similar tools, to manage workflows and quality metrics and integrate them with engineering platforms.
  • Provide training and support to business users and technical teams on governance processes and data quality best practices.
  • Work closely with the Data Strategy & Governance Lead to align tactical execution with strategic goals and governance roadmaps.
  • Promote a culture of data trust and accountability through collaboration with cross-functional teams and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance governance maturity and data trust through automation, tooling, and process refinement.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and the use of Jira for tracking work and other tasks e.g. drive improvements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or data engineering roles, ideally within healthcare or insurance.
  • Experience with governance and quality tools (e.g., Collibra, AWS Data Glue DQ and Catalog, Informatica) and their integration with engineering workflows.
  • Experience of working with reporting and dashboarding tools to deliver governance dashboards (Qliksense, Tableau etc).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to bridge technical and business domains.
  • Understanding data standards and data governance metrics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with engineering disciplines such as building and maintaining data pipelines using modern technologies (e.g., Python, SQL, cloud platforms).
  • Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team environment.
  • Experience of Agile practices (SAFe) and use of JIRA.
