This role leads enterprise data governance and strategy execution by coordinating policies, standards, and cross‑functional alignment critical to enterprise data outcomes. A core responsibility is establishing and managing enterprise data working groups to convene data owners, stewards, officers, and specialists to resolve data issues requiring bank‑wide consensus.
The role supports the advancement of Enterprise Data & AI (EDA) capabilities by organizing decision‑making forums, facilitating alignment on data strategy, and ensuring decisions are operationalized, tracked, and reported.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive enterprise data strategy execution by establishing and facilitating data working groups when cross‑enterprise alignment is required
Convene appropriate stakeholders to make informed decisions on data standards, priorities, ownership, and remediation
Determine when to stand up new forums versus leveraging existing governance structures
Translate complex data problems into actionable governance, policy, and operating solutions
Ensure enterprise data decisions are documented, tracked, and embedded into ongoing operating models
Lead development and maintenance of enterprise data management policies and standards, including metadata, data quality, data retention, classification, privacy, and access controls
Partner with data product, platform, and business teams to implement and monitor adherence to enterprise data standards
Ensure compliance with risk, regulatory, and internal control requirements while escalating issues as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years related experience
Experience analyzing data and draw valid conclusions
Experience completing data research using industry standard research methods
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Intermediate knowledge of data management concepts, terminology, roles, and responsibilities
Experience developing and/or implementing data management and/or data governance policy and standards with limited oversight
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $103,000.00 - $171,600.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
