Job Description

Get Paid to Travel, Learn and Solve Problems

  • Do you enjoy being out on the road rather than stuck behind a desk?
  • Do you like working independently, learning new skills and solving problems?
  • Are you someone who takes initiative, enjoys technology and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves and get the job done?

If so, this could be the opportunity for you.

About NPS

As one of AFR's Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies and a dual winner of the Victorian Training Awards for Apprenticeship Development (2022 & 2023), New Plumbing Solutions (NPS) continues to grow across Australia.

We work with water authorities, government and industry to deliver innovative water management, metering and monitoring solutions that help protect one of our most valuable resources.

We're looking for a motivated Data Logger Technician to join our growing Water Efficiency team.

About The Role

If you like routine, this role probably isn't for you.

Every day is different. You'll start from our Northcote Head Office, collecting equipment and preparing for scheduled works before heading out into the field. Some days you'll be working across Melbourne, other days you'll be travelling to regional Victoria. You'll need to be proactive, organised and comfortable adapting when priorities change, while still getting the job done safely and efficiently.

You'll travel across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria installing, maintaining and supporting water monitoring and telemetry equipment.

Regular travel is a key part of this role. Most regional trips involve overnight stays, typically one night away, and there will also be occasional interstate travel as projects require.

While you'll spend your initial training period working closely alongside an experienced buddy who will show you the ropes, you'll eventually be trusted to manage your own schedule, work independently and take ownership of your work.'=

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy and being out in the field.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Installing and configuring data loggers and monitoring equipment
  • Conducting communications testing and system checks
  • Troubleshooting equipment and resolving field issues
  • Capturing and maintaining accurate records using digital platforms
  • Working across commercial, industrial and institutional sites
  • Travelling regularly throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria
  • Occasional interstate travel as required
  • Working closely with clients and operational teams
  • Identifying opportunities for improvements and efficiencies

What We're Looking For

We can teach the technical side.

What we can't teach is attitude, motivation and work ethic.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is proactive and self-motivated
  • Enjoys working independently
  • Has excellent attention to detail
  • IT literate and can use technology
  • Has a genuine willingness to learn
  • Takes ownership and gets things done
  • Is comfortable travelling regularly for work
  • Enjoys field-based work and being on the move
  • Has strong problem-solving skills
  • Communicates well with customers and teammates
  • Has a positive, can-do attitude

Experience in utilities, telecommunications, electrical, metering, field services or technical environments will be highly regarded, but is not essential.

What's In It For You?

  • Extensive hands-on training with an experienced buddy
  • Opportunity to develop specialist technical skills
  • Regular travel across Victoria (accommodation and LAFA paid)
  • Variety and autonomy in your work
  • Opportunity to join a growing national business
  • Supportive team culture with genuine career opportunities
  • Work that makes a real difference to communities and water sustainability
  • Company vehicle/fuel card & phone allowance
