Job Description

Responsible for manage the day-to-day day duties that include data governance activities, as well as, ensure design & adherence to the enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards, and practices. This position will report directly to the Data Governance Officer (DGO) and is expected to work closely with the DGO as it relates to serving as a point of contact and escalation for data governance, data quality, and data protection. Will work closely with Business Units to improve the quality and value of core data assets, work with the DGO to respond to regulatory requirements as well as support the strategic requirements and initiatives of the department

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field. Master's Degree preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Applied Data Governance Practitioner (ADGP) preferred.

Experience: Four to six years of experience in data governance, analytics or similar. Experience in a financial institution. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Functions:

A: Job Specific:

  • Assists the DGO in defining the data governance strategy, roadmap, and aligns governance initiatives with overall business objectives and enterprise architecture.
  • Assists in designing, documenting, and implementing enterprise-wide data policies, standards, and procedures, including data classification schemes, data ownership models, and data lifecycle management.
  • Collaborates with legal, compliance, and risk management teams to ensure adherence to relevant data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, SOX) and industry standards.
  • Assists in establishing data quality standards, metrics (KPIs), and monitoring mechanisms. Works with data owners and stewards to identify and resolve data quality issues and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Assists in implementing processes for capturing and maintaining metadata, data lineage, definitions, and dependencies. Establishes data dictionaries, business glossaries, and cataloging tools to facilitate data discovery and documentation.
  • Provides training and guidance to employees on data governance principles and best practices to foster a culture of accountability and data stewardship across the organization.
  • Establishes mechanisms for monitoring compliance with data governance policies, conducting regular audits, and reporting on key metrics and risks to the Data Governance Officer.
  • Drives the necessary organizational changes to support the data governance framework, managing different stakeholder perspectives and ensuring adoption.
  • Conducts independent testing and validation of models to ensure accuracy, reliability, and conceptual soundness. This includes reviewing documentation, assumptions, and ongoing monitoring plans.
  • Oversees the assessment of model risks and help develop strategies to mitigate them. Provides "effective challenge" by running sensitivity analyses or building challenger models.
  • Manages model inventories, oversee the model risk management and ensure models comply with internal policies and external regulations.

  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
  • Demonstrated consulting skills with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design.
  • Technical writing, to include reports, procedure manuals, articles for publication.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limed standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • The ability to read, analyze and interpret financial statements, government regulations, professional journals, etc.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations.
