Job Description

Data Governance Lead’ is a primary role in the Digital Heathrow Programme, looking to transform Britains Busiest Airport into one of the worlds most digitally advanced. This role will provide technical understanding to develop the organisations Data Management capabilities, working closely with the Data Standards and Quality Lead to drive up standards and ultimately Data quality.

Working with both internal teams and 3rd party agencies to ensure that Heathrow adopts industry best practise Data Governance. Working within the broader Solutions team, to lead the definition of the Enterprise Data Model; and well as evangelising the benefits of good Data Stewardship.

  • Define and maintain Heathrow’s Enterprise Data Model, adopting relevant industry standards and best practices in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Establish and embed a unified Data Governance framework, including Data Management policies, controls, and compliance with regulatory and data protection requirements.
  • Shape and deliver the roadmap for Data Management maturity, embedding best practice across the organisation, including Reference and Master Data Management.
  • Develop and track Data Quality metrics, ensuring robust measurement, monitoring, and continuous improvement of data across Heathrow systems and processes.
  • Support and assure programme and project delivery by aligning data processes, tooling, and standards with strategy, working closely with Technology, Delivery, and Operations teams.
  • Drive capability and adoption by curating Digital Academy content, fostering strong internal and external relationships, and equipping teams with the knowledge and tools to apply effective Data Governance and data management practices.
  • Degree or equivalent in IT (or similar) subject.
  • Experience of abstracting physical data into conceptual models.
  • Experience of driving best Data Management best practice at an industry level, within an ecosystem of organisations.
  • Experience of practical business change associated with adopting new Governance standards and controls.
  • Experience of the tools and applications used to assess and improve Data Quality.
  • Demonstrable experience of influencing senior stakeholders (Director level and above) to gain initiative buy-in.
  • Experience in running Governance forums at an Enterprise level.
  • Experience in exploiting the Azure tech stack for Data Management.

Ideally, you will also have

  • Experience working in a Data Architecture (or similar) role.

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of HeathrowWorking arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
