As a Data Engineer at Waitwhile youâll play a foundational role in building and maintaining a scalable, secure, and compliant infrastructure that powers Waitwhileâs intelligence. Youâll be responsible for the complete data lifecycle: managing ETL/ELT pipelines to centralize data, orchestrating transformations, serving our Analytics APIs, and ensuring high-value insights are pushed back into business tools. In this role, you will also serve as a technical advisor to Product and Leadership on how to operationalize AI.
Launch and maintain a scalable semantic data layer that reflects an updated view of our customers' reporting needs and has connectivity to AI tools
Scope and deploy infrastructure for a production-facing AI feature.
Maintain high availability for the analytics and reporting API endpoints serving the Waitwhile application.
Maintain and improve the ML-based wait estimation implementation.
Ensure strict anonymization, masking, and necessary separation of customer data, with zero leakage of tenant data.
5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
Strong familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services, specifically BigQuery and Vertex AI, along with SQL.
Hands-on experience with data transformation tools like DBT or Dataform.
Theoretical understanding of semantic data layer tools, such as Cube.js or LookML.
Master of Science in an applicable field.
Bonus Skills & Attributes:
Knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and NodeJS.
SaaS experience, especially where analytics is part of the product offering.
Experience deploying ML models to production (MLOps) and an understanding of how to integrate LLMs/AI agents into application workflows (MCP concepts).
Experience handling PII and implementing GDPR/CCPA deletion workflows.
