Summary:

The Huntington Home Lending Data Management Support team is seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer II to support reporting, analytics, operational, and regulatory data solutions across the Home Lending organization. This role partners with business stakeholders, product teams, and technology partners to deliver scalable, reliable, and efficient data solutions that support critical business functions.

The Data Engineer II will analyze business requirements, develop data pipelines and reporting datasets, and support the ongoing operation of enterprise data solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with a collaborative mindset and the ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.

This role operates in an agile delivery framework and balances project delivery, continuous improvement, and production support responsibilities while demonstrating a high degree of ownership and accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, design, develop, test, implement, and support data solutions based on business requirements.
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, integrations, and transformation processes supporting reporting, analytics, operational, and regulatory needs.
  • Develop and support solutions using SQL Server, Snowflake, SAS, and related data technologies.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, data mappings, and process flows.
  • Support testing, implementation, and deployment activities.
  • Monitor data quality and implement controls to improve accuracy and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support audit, compliance, and remediation activities as needed.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve automation, operational efficiency, scalability, and data quality.
  • Collaborate with team members and technology partners to continuously enhance data solutions and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, statistics or related field, or equivalent related work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, database development, ETL/ELT development, business intelligence, or related technology disciplines.
  • 4+ years of SQL development and relational database experience.
  • 3+ years of experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting and troubleshooting production data solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment using an agile approach while managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Experience with Snowflake.
  • Experience with SAS for data integration and transformation.
  • Experience with Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, VBA, PowerAutomate, or similar automation technologies.
  • Experience in mortgage, banking, or financial services.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting (HMDA, CRA, FFIEC, TRID).
  • Experience with mortgage loan origination platforms such as Encompass.
