Job Description

Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

The Analytics Data Platform Engineering (ADPE) organization governs the strategy and implementation of the enterprise data warehouse and emerging data platforms. Our mission is to drive activation of data solutions, rep engagement technology (Sales, Marketing and Service), and client intelligence to achieve targeted business outcomes, address data risk, and safeguard competitive edge—helping leaders across the firm make fact-based decisions by integrating and analyzing data.

As a Data Engineer, you’ll partner closely with business stakeholders and a team of data engineers and subject matter experts to design, build, and improve enterprise data integration solutions that power analytics, reporting, and data science. You’ll translate business and data requirements into scalable ingestion and transformation workflows across a variety of patterns (batch, near real-time, and real time), with a strong emphasis on reliability, data quality, and performance.

In this role, you’ll work in a highly collaborative environment—coordinating across onshore and offshore teams and engaging with cross-functional partners such as business analysts, data modelers, technical leaders, and vendor teams. You’ll influence technical direction through well-defined ETL specifications and documentation, rigorous testing and quality assurance practices, and consistent alignment to development, coding, and testing standards. You’ll also help teams move faster and smarter by advocating for agile ways of working, guiding delivery with hands-on technical expertise, and driving decisions that keep outcomes on track.

You’ll have the opportunity to grow your impact through challenging work that shapes the future of the data warehouse—building modern integrations using best-in-class technologies (including Informatica IICS and BigQuery), strengthening how data is modeled and governed, and helping ensure high-quality data is available when it matters most. If you thrive on problem-solving, sound technical decision-making, and partnering with others to deliver measurable outcomes, this is a chance to build capability while making a tangible difference across the enterprise.

What you have

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability as an ETL Developer with a track record of delivering code with minimal defects.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with data integration tools such as Informatica, Informatica IICS, Talend, RabbitMQ, or similar integration methods.
  • 3+ years of experience working with data warehouse platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, Teradata, or similar databases/technologies.
  • 1+ year of experience in data modeling (logical and/or physical).
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience with near real-time and/or real-time data ingestion techniques and related technologies such as AVRO, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
  • Expertise in schema design and proven ability to work with complex data.
  • Strong SQL experience, including the ability to develop, tune, and debug complex SQL applications.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience with GCP, BigQuery, and Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) or similar tools.
  • 1+ year of experience with scheduling tools such as Control-M, ESP, or similar.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, influencing, prioritization, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, communication, and negotiation, with the ability to collaborate effectively across partners and teams.
  • Ability to quickly learn and become proficient with new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in large-scale environments such as RDBMS, EDW, NoSQL, and/or Big Data ecosystems.
  • Prior experience interfacing with multiple partners, including vendors, offshore development teams, and internal groups.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
