Purpose

The Support data engineers are responsible for the day-to-day support and operations of the ETL jobs. These technology pros have deep knowledge of various data storage technologies such as SQL and ETL technologies. Their jobs are to maintain and support the plumbing -- data pipelines that clean, aggregate, and organize data from different sources, and then load them into databases or data warehouses/lakes.

Accountabilities

  • Ability to resolve highly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet business needs, provide recommendation on the design and methodologies, system solutions.
  • Provide business support to all units globally, including new and existing portfolios, ad hoc queries, and assisting with the design and implementation of systems enhancements. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that management is kept informed, and that problems and issues are escalated appropriately.
  • Provide input to the continuous improvement of processes and adopting latest technologies and methodologies.
  • Provide L1/L2/L3 support for ETL processes build on SSIS, DataStage and PLSQL
  • Ability to liase with different teams to fix data quality issues.
  • Co-ordinate and follow up with various other different teams, vendors and third party for issue resolution.
  • Work with Infrastructure teams to co-ordinate infrastructure/environment related upgrades, patches and migration activities.
  • Ensure the documentation of issues, solutions, root cause and findings for use in future problem resolutions.
  • Development techniques, such as debugging, testing, coding, use of version control tools like TFS.
  • Performance tuning skills is considered to be an asset
  • Cloud platform knowledge of Azure is good to have

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years’ IT industry experience and 3 years’ experience in an ETL (Extract Transform Load) role is essential
  • Strong working experience with Microsoft BI tools - SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power BI
  • Working knowledge of computing platforms, such as Windows, Linux
  • Strong experience in Data Warehousing methodologies and concepts like Inmon and Kimball
  • Experienced in creating Database objects like - Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Views, Jobs
  • Advance knowledge on working with different type of datasets -CSV, XML, JSON
  • Experience in Object oriented programming as (C# with .Net) and SQL programming language.
  • Strong experience in on premise relational Database technologies like MS-SQL Server
  • Networking, communications, on-line transaction processing (OLTP) technology
  • Development techniques, such as debugging, testing, coding, use of version control tools like TFS.
  • Performance tuning skills are a must
  • Cloud platform knowledge of Azure is good to have
