The role sits within the BNZ Reporting and Analytics Platforms (RAP) team under the Digital and Enterprise Data Platforms product domain. The RAP team is the engineering backbone behind BNZ's analytical and reporting capability.We own and operate BNZ's analytics infrastructure, the environments data scientists and business teams depend on daily. We build, deploy, and maintain those platforms rather than building the analytical models that run on top of them.

This is a permanent, full time opportunity based in Auckland. It is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly.

The role sits within the BNZ Reporting and Analytics Platforms (RAP) team under the Data and Analytics Platforms product domain. Platforms in scope include BNZ Analytics Execution, Data Labs, SageMaker, Power BI Cloud, GCP BigQuery andCertent Disclosure Management.

What are some of the day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • Support our cloud-native Reporting and Analytics platforms, including BAE, Data Labs, SageMaker, Power BI Cloud, and BigQuery
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and scheduled workflows using Airflow, Step Functions, and SageMaker Batch Inference.
  • Manage AWS infrastructure with Terraform, including EKS, ECR, EMR, S3 access controls, and IAM roles.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and Octopus Deploy across Dev, SIT, PreProd, and Production
  • Contribute to engineering frameworks forMLOps governance, S3 segregation, ML tagging, and deployment traceability
  • Work with data scientists, analysts, and platform leads to deliver production-ready platform solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve platform incidents, maintaining Jira tickets to team standards.
  • Maintain technical documentation, including architecture decisions, onboarding guides, runbooks, and deployment procedures
  • Support planning sessions by contributing estimates and dependency analysis.
  • Apply BNZ security and compliance controls, including vulnerability management for container platforms.

What skills / technical skills are required for this role?

  • Power BI administration, Power BI Cloud, or Microsoft Fabric experience.
  • Hands-on AWS experience across EC2, EKS, EMR, S3, IAM, Step Functions, EventBridge, and SageMaker.
  • Python skills for data engineering, automation, and pipeline development.
  • Apache Airflow experience for scheduled and event-driven workflows.
  • Terraform experience for provisioning and maintaining cloud resources.
  • CI/CD experience with Jenkins or similar tools for multi-environment deployments.
  • Understanding of data lineage, access controls, and audit frameworks.
  • DevOps or platform engineering experience, including Docker and EKS/ECR
  • Strong SQL skills for analytical databases and data warehouses.
  • Clear technical documentation and runbook maintenance skills.
  • Collaborative team player comfortable in Agile/Scrumbanenvironments.
