The Data Engineer will contribute to the development and maintenance of a scalable data platform and analytical environment. The role involves building reliable data pipelines, modeling and transforming data for analytics, and ensuring data quality across systems. You will work closely with senior data and analytics engineers and business stakeholders to contribute to our Databricks-based Medallion architecture, while continuing to develop your technical and architectural expertise. This role reports to the Director of Data & Analytics.
What You Will Do:
Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and reusable ingestion frameworks for structured and semi-structured data using Databricks, dbt, Workato, and Terraform
Develop and maintain data models, transformations, and analytics-ready datasets across the Medallion architecture utilizing dbt and industry best practices
Write and optimize complex SQL queries across large and diverse datasets to support schema design and performance optimization for analytical workloads
Implement robust data quality checks, validations, and monitoring systems to ensure continuous accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data
Partner with analytics, product, and business teams to gather requirements, engage with end-users, and deliver reliable data solutions that achieve strategic goals
Troubleshoot complex data issues, perform root cause analysis in collaboration with stakeholders
Support platform operations such as job monitoring, access control, and performance tuning under guidance from senior engineers
Contribute to CI/CD practices using Git and infrastructure-as-code tools, actively participating in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives
Create and strictly maintain comprehensive documentation for all data models, pipelines, and technical processes
What We Are Looking For:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
5+ years of professional experience in a data engineering or analytics engineering role
Advanced SQL skills with a proven ability to write complex, optimized queries, alongside hands-on experience using Python or PySpark for data processing
Extensive experience using dbt for data transformation and modeling, paired with a solid understanding of ETL/ELT patterns, data modeling concepts, and data quality principles
Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
Hands-on experience with Git-based version control systems such as GitHub or GitLab
Exceptional communication skills with the proven ability to clearly translate and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical business partners
Nice To Have:
Direct experience working with Databricks, specifically including basic platform administration
Practical exposure to Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools, as well as CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
Experience integrating data from APIs or streaming sources, alongside exposure to AWS or other cloud services
Prior experience working within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry

The base salary may vary based on experience, role tenure, performance, industry, and location. Eligibility for the annual performance incentive may apply. Jazwares is a multi-state employer, so the salary range may not apply to other states.
