Job Description

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join Stora Enso's Forest Data Services, Precision Forestry team in Wood & Energy Business Area.

In Forest Data Services function, we work with internal and external data to provide valuable information for business decision-making.

In this scope, the Precision Forestry Service team specializes in spatial and other forestry data analysis, processing and distribution.

Our Precision Forestry team consists of team located in Finland and central Europe. You will be located in Ostrava, Czechia

In your role, you will build and maintain data & AI pipelines to process data for various use cases in the scope of Precision Forestry Service.

Good collaboration skills are important as you work closely with other team members including an AI Technical Lead and another Data Engineer.

You will also participate in refinement of business requests as per need.

The responsibilities of a Data Engineer include:

  • Service Delivery Ensure existing data & AI pipelines run reliably in production by monitoring executions, troubleshooting failures, fixing data quality or integration issues, and implementing small enhancements and optimizations when needed.

  • Development Create new data pipelines and processing solutions as per data service requirements.

  • Collaboration work together with team members & business stakeholders to improve data pipelines enabling our data services whilst ensuring data reliability and swift execution times.

  • Continuous Improvement Demonstrate willingness to continuously learn and adopt emerging technologies and best practices relevant to the service environment.

To succeed in this role, you need the following skills and qualities:

  • Experience in working with Python and SQL

  • Knowledge and experience from Azure Data Stack, Databricks, Snowflake and dbt are appreciated

  • Basic DevOps skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Curiosity and strong willingness to learn new skills and technologies

  • Fluency in English (fluency in other relevant languages is considered as an advantage)

  • Knowledge of the forestry sector is considered as an advantage
