We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join our high-performing, solutions-focused team, playing a key role in shaping how data is used across Auckland Council. This role is all about building and optimising data pipelines into our enterprise data platforms, ensuring high-quality, accessible data that enables AI use cases, advanced analytics, and smarter decision-making across the organisation.
You’ll work in a collaborative, agile environment alongside engineers, analysts, and governance teams to deliver scalable, reliable data solutions. We’re after someone who brings solid hands-on experience, a strong team mindset, and a drive to contribute to meaningful outcomes for Tāmaki Makaurau.

You’ll bring around 5+ years’ experience in data engineering or analytics within organisations of high data maturity, along with a relevant qualification in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field. You’re someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, agile environment, and you understand the importance of building data solutions that are not just technically sound, but also fit for purpose and enable real business value.
