Under the direction of theData & BI lead,theData Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, andmaintainingour data architectureand business intelligence capabilitiesThe Data Engineer willensurethe efficient flow,management, and consumptionof data across ourbusinesssystems.This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, implement robust data pipelines, and contribute to the overall data strategy of the organization.

ESSENTIAL AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planand executephases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for a variety ofdata warehouseprojectsand business intelligence support activities

  • In conjunction with Business Systems Analystsand Business Process Owners,isresponsible for communicationand interactionwith various stakeholders.

  • Facilitate thepreparation and documentation ofrequirementsincludingfunctional and technical designspecifications.

  • Design, code, test, and document all new ormodifiedBI systems, data pipelines, applications, and programs.

  • Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.

  • Produce ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system.

  • Coordinate and work with other technical staff to developand implementdatabase architectures, codingstandards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.

  • Plan and implement capacity and resource expansion to ensure data warehouse scalability.

  • Build relationships withapplicationand infrastructure teams to gain an understanding of data architectures and required functionality.

  • Orchestratebusiness intelligenceprojects and corresponding strategies between business units and development teams.

  • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets

  • Identifyinefficiencies and gaps in current data warehouses andleveragesolutions to ensure data standards

  • Diagnose and resolve data warehouse access and performance issues.

Minimum Experience,Education, and Technical Skills

Formal Education:

  • Associate orbachelor’sdegree in computer science,softwareengineeringor5+years equivalentrelatedIT experience.

Knowledge & Experience

  • 5+ years working technical experience with designing, building, installing,configuring,and supportingLakehouse,data warehouses.

  • 3+years’ experiencewithdatabasesand cloudplatforms

  • 3+ years’ experience withSQL,SparkSQLandpipelines Experiencewith cloud dataplatformsMicrosoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory,andPower BI

  • 3+ years’ experience with data architecting, data mining, large-scale data modeling, data warehousing, data lake housing, and semanticmodels isa must

  • Expert in Power BI data models using advanced Power Query and DAX

  • Experience workingonbusinessreportingrequirements gathering/analysis

  • Familiarity with D365 Financial and Operations,Project Operations andCustomer Experiencedata modelsis preferred

  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.

  • Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques.

  • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Work/Environment and Physical Requirements (with or withoutaccommodation)

  • Office type environment, using computer, telephone, other office equipment as needed to perform duties.

  • This position requires the ability to sit forlong periodsof time,and towork in a fast-paced environment

Travel Requirements

  • Position isprimarilyremote,with the occasional need to come to the office (Bloomington, MN).

  • Position may require some limited travel (locally and throughout United States); Less than 5% annually.

Compensation Range:

$88,000.00 - $131,000.00
