We are seeking a Data Engineer with a strong background in ETL/ELT pipeline development to inventory and classify digital data assets, identify their locations, and assess their security, with an emphasis on information security and regulatory compliance.
Data Governance & Inventory (Microsoft Purview):
Implement Microsoft Purview to create a centralized Data Catalog and Data Map, ensuring all enterprise data assets are discovered, classified, and documented.
Establish data lineage and governance policies to support compliance and security standards.
Data Ingestion & Integration (Microsoft Fabric):
Build robust ETL/ELT pipelines in Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory / Synapse) to centralize data from heterogeneous sources.
Develop connectors for REST API-based external systems and process data from on-premise MSSQL databases.
Integrate decentralized data sources (e.g., cloud-based spreadsheets, business-managed files) into the managed Data Lakehouse.
Transformation & Analytics:
Transform raw data into trusted insights using PySpark (Notebooks) and T-SQL, following modern data modeling patterns (e.g., Medallion Architecture).
Optimize the data layer to serve high-performance Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
Technical Skills
Programming: Strong Python and SQL skills
Cloud: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Synapse) or strong background in major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) with willingness to transition
Data Warehouse: Experience with Lakehouse architecture and data modeling (Star schema, Medallion architecture)
Databases: Working knowledge of MS SQL Server, including handling large data exports and queries
Integration: Strong expertise in handling REST APIs and diverse file formats
DevOps: Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Git integration for data artifacts
Data Engineering Experience
3+ years of data engineering experience
Strong background in ETL/ELT pipeline development
Experience with batch processing and handling large datasets
Experience with secure credential management (e.g., Key Vaults)
Knowledge of data governance and access control practices
Understanding of monitoring and operational best practices
