Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Curation Lead to lead enterprise metadata governance initiatives and ensure the quality, consistency, and compliance of organizational data assets. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing metadata governance frameworks, overseeing dataset publication processes, ensuring adherence to metadata standards, and collaborating with technical and business stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in data governance, metadata management, open data platforms, and information systems, with proven experience implementing metadata standards in enterprise or government environments.

Key Responsibilities

Metadata Governance

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's metadata governance framework.
• Define metadata standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Establish governance processes to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across all published datasets.
• Monitor metadata quality and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

Dataset Publication

• Review, validate, and approve datasets for publication on open data or enterprise data platforms.
• Ensure published datasets meet organizational quality, security, and compliance standards.
• Manage metadata lifecycle activities, including creation, updates, version control, and archival.

Metadata Compliance

• Oversee compliance with established metadata standards and governance policies.
• Conduct metadata quality assessments and audits.
• Identify metadata gaps, inconsistencies, and quality issues, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Develop metrics and reporting dashboards to monitor metadata quality and governance effectiveness.

Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination

• Act as the primary point of contact for metadata governance initiatives.
• Coordinate with vendor technical teams to support platform implementation, enhancements, and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with business units, data owners, data stewards, and technical teams to ensure successful metadata management.
• Facilitate governance meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement sessions.

Data Governance & Information Management

• Support enterprise data governance initiatives and digital transformation programs.
• Promote metadata management best practices across the organization.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Contribute to the development of data governance roadmaps and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, information systems, or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience working with open data platforms or digital data publishing platforms.
• Proven experience implementing metadata standards and governance frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise data catalog and metadata management tools.
• Knowledge of international metadata standards (e.g., DCAT, Dublin Core, ISO 11179, CKAN).
• Experience in government, public sector, or large enterprise data governance environments.
• Familiarity with data privacy, regulatory compliance, and information governance frameworks.
