The Recreation Division enables all New Yorkers to lead physically active and intellectually stimulating lives through sports, fitness, outdoor adventure, technology, education and the arts. The Data Coordinator will be responsible for managing all Recreation-relevant data and data tools for their borough including but not limited to Xplor Recreation, Fleet, Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITT), Compliance, Performance Management and Maintenance.
Major Responsibilities
- Under general direction of a Borough Chief of Recreation, with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, support the division through data management, analysis, visualization and reporting.
- Manage and take responsibility for all aspects of Xplor Recreation for assigned borough.
- Regularly inspect data to ensure data is complete, accurate, and updated; manage all information being sent to the NYC Parks website from Xplor Recreation.
- Track system peripherals and components and report issues to ITT.
- Coach other data users on the acquisition and usage of data, new data sources, tools and analytical methods.
- Advance efforts to take a data-informed approach to Recreation's work. This includes collaborating with division data owners to identify data sets, conduct data audits and assist in the development and implementation of processes to improve data interoperability, support data quality and data publication.
- Create, maintain, and update thorough and comprehensive documentation on datasets, workflows, tools and applications.
- Analyze business and technical workflows; provide recommendations and improvements to increase data quality and optimize operations.
- Provide data management and analytical support as needed.
