Job Description

Build your career in critical infrastructure

Salute is a Global Leader in Data Center services, providing operational services to data centres around the world. With an established presence in the United States and continued growth across Europe, we offer the opportunity to develop your career in one of the region’s most important and fast-growing industries.

We are looking for an electrically or mechanically qualified technician to join our Critical Facilities team in Frankfurt as a Data Centre Facilities Technician. Previous data-centre experience is welcome but not essential. We also value experience gained in industrial facilities, manufacturing, utilities, building services, hospitals and other high-availability environments.

You will be part of the team that keeps critical infrastructure running at the highest levels of reliability, supporting systems that demand better than 99.999% uptime.

**This is a rotating 3-shift position that may include nights, weekends and public holidays**

The Role:

As a Shift Technician, you will monitor, operate and support the electrical, mechanical and life-safety systems within a live data-center environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring critical infrastructure through BMS and alarm-management systems
  • Operating equipment including generators, UPS systems, switchgear, PDUs, chillers, CRAH units, pumps and ventilation systems
  • Completing routine inspections, readings and equipment checks
  • Supporting planned preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Responding to alarms, incidents and abnormal operating conditions
  • Recording, tracking and closing work orders accurately
  • Preparing clear shift handovers and maintaining operational documentation
  • Supporting approved switching and isolation activities within your level of authorisation
  • Coordinating and supervising specialist contractors
  • Following site procedures, permits and safety requirements
  • Escalating risks and technical issues promptly
  • Contributing to improvements in safety, reliability and operating standards

What you bring

  • A completed technical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in electrical, mechanical, building-services or refrigeration engineering. For example:
    • Elektroniker für Betriebstechnik
    • Elektroniker für Energie- und Gebäudetechnik
    • Mechatroniker
    • Anlagenmechaniker
    • Mechatroniker für Kältetechnik
    • Or a comparable technical qualification
  • Practical experience operating or maintaining electrical or mechanical systems
  • A safety-first approach and the ability to follow structured procedures
  • Calm and effective decision-making during incidents
  • Clear communication and accurate documentation skills
  • Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern, including nights, weekends and public holidays
  • German at approximately B2 level or above
  • Working English, with a willingness to develop further

Experience in a data centre or another critical environment is beneficial, but not essential. If you meet most, not all, of the criteria, we still encourage you to apply.

Advantageous Qualifications

Any of the following would be beneficial, although training may be provided:

  • LV or MV switching authorization (Schaltberechtigung LV/MV)
  • Experience with UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling systems or BMS
  • Electrical safety, refrigeration or contractor-safety certification (SCC)
  • Experience using permit-to-work and maintenance-management systems

Compensation: €65,000–€75,000 gross per year, including contractual shift allowances. Placement within the range is based on relevant qualifications, technical experience and authorised competencies.

The opportunity is located in Frankfurt, Germany and will include business travel as needed to meet business demands but will likely be nominal.

What we offer:

At Salute, we build long-term technical careers. You can expect:

  • Competitive base salary plus applicable shift, night, Sunday and public-holiday premiums
  • A predictable shift roster published in advance
  • Structured onboarding and technical training
  • Support toward relevant technical qualifications and authorisations
  • Clear progression opportunities within Critical Facilities operations
  • A supportive, safety-led team environment
  • The opportunity to work with mission-critical infrastructure in one of Europe’s leading data-centre markets

If you are an electrical or mechanical technician looking to enter the data-centre industry—or take the next step within it—we would like to hear from you.
