Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting one of the following: operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols.
• Experience with performing component-level repairs on IT equipment.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, holidays and on shift-based schedules.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in technical support operations and network diagnostics.
• Experience in Linux administration, network infrastructure, hardware, and project management.

As an Operations Technician, you'll install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster). As an individual contributor in Data Center (DC) Technical Operations, you perform core data center operations and deployment tasks on a single function (e.g., maintenance, machines, programs, networking, media security), under direct guidance. You perform basic troubleshooting and problem identification to address day-to-day issues by following existing protocols and well-defined documented activities and escalate non-standard challenges when required. You will develop knowledge of data security systems, operations, processes, and procedures, as well as the ability to monitor potential data security issues. You also engage in community contributions to improve and sustain our culture and operations - making Google a better place to work.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to efforts/projects in the deployment, maintenance and support of current and new data center servers and network infrastructure.
• Diagnose and repair broken equipment, including servers, networking and storage devices.
• Install and maintain switches, routers, and other large-scale networking gear.
• Lead projects and sub functional team(s).
