JOB SUMMARY

Be part of cloud computing growth in the Midwest! The DATA CENTER TECHNICIAN will support the growth of a global leader in Network Technology. The DATA CENTER TECHNICIAN will build, install and troubleshoot data center networks. Together, the DATA CENTER TECHNICIAN is a good fit for aspiring IT, Network, Technician and Low Voltage professionals, as well as recent graduates ready to work a physical IT position. The DATA CENTER TECHNICIAN will work 6-7 days per week, and at times work 50-80 hours per week. Applicants should be ready to work long days and weeks, even during holiday time.

DUTIES

• Operate hand tools to install utilities according to project specifications.
• Perform pull‑backs for conduit, pipe, or cable installation.
• Understand bend radius and handle conduit.
• Read and interpret utility locates, bore profiles, and construction drawings.
• Safely identify and avoid existing utilities.
• Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.
• Complete daily production and safety documentation.
• Follow all company, OSHA, and site‑specific safety policies.
• Perform job site setup and cleanup, including loading and unloading tools, materials, and equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair underground and aerial telecommunications infrastructure.
• Perform fiber optic and copper cable placement, splicing support, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Inspect outside plant facilities for damage, defects, or potential service interruptions.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to outages or emergency situations when required.
• Prepare stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches).
• Set up equipment properly according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
• Perform post-execution quality checks and verify grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling.
• Decommission hardware for simple changes and refresh (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance.
• Work overnights in a data center setting, as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of cabling to include copper, fiber or conduit
• Ability to read utility locates and job plans
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Required: Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
• Required: Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Required: Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays.

SHIFT & SCHEDULE

• 1st Shift: 6am-6pm
• 3rd Shift: 6pm-6am
• Frontside Schedule: Sunday-Wednesday
• Backside Schedule: Wednesday-Saturday
• Overtime during peak season

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fairfax, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
