General Summary:
The Data Center Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring suppliers deliver high-quality components, modules, and systems that meet reliability, performance, scalability, and manufacturing readiness requirements for data center products. The SQE serves as the primary quality interface between Engineering, Operations, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and external suppliers, driving supplier quality excellence throughout NPI, qualification, and high-volume production.
Responsibilities
Ensure supplier quality readiness for data center products by aligning supplier processes with server, AI accelerator, networking, storage, and power/cooling module requirements for reliability, uptime, and scalability.
Supplier Capability Assessment: Conduct technical and quality system assessments of potential new suppliers, including IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 audits.
Supplier On-Boarding Process: Ensure suppliers understand company standards and requirements.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Lead suppliers to conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation and control plans to reduce and manage residual risk.
Drive system-level manufacturing readiness across module, box build, power/cooling, cable/connector, and test processes to support successful NPI and mass production ramp-up.
Review manufacturing process flows, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC systems, and process validation results.
Quality Issue Resolution (8D Management): Lead resolution of complex quality issues and non-conformances with suppliers, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor and analyze suppliers' quality KPIs, scorecards, test coverage performance, and drive corrective actions focusing on continuous improvement.
Supplier reliability qualification review, including ORT, burn-in, thermal cycling, vibration, power cycling, and failure analysis, to ensure data center product reliability and uptime requirements are met.
PCN (Product Change Notification): Review and approve supplier-driven engineering changes, including PCN, ECN, BOM changes, second-source qualification, and configuration control, to ensure quality and reliability risks are properly assessed.
Audit Activities: Conduct regular and focused audits at supplier facilities to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Drive continuous quality improvement programs with strategic suppliers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
Experience supporting NPI and high-volume manufacturing for server, networking, storage, AI accelerator, datacenter, semiconductor, or electronics products.
Minimum 10 years of working experience in supplier quality or module/system manufacturing or hardware quality engineering, preferably in data center, server, networking, semiconductor, or automotive electronics industries. Minimum 3 years of experience as an independent supplier facing leader.
Experience with server, AI accelerator, networking, storage, or cloud infrastructure hardware, preferably with data center operational risk knowledge.
Familiarity with IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, Quality Tools (APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA etc.) and methodologies.
Solid root cause analysis (3L5W) and 8D problem-solving skills.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Supplier Quality Assurance experience (e.g., quality analysis, audit) or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Supplier Quality Assurance experience (e.g., quality analysis, audit) or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Supplier Quality Assurance experience (e.g., quality analysis, audit) or related work experience.
