A. PROFILE
Role Title: Data Center Senior Engineer
Reporting to: Data Center Manager
Division: Network Planning & Operations
Department / Section: Technology & Information
B. CONTEXT
Purpose: The Data Center Engineer supports activities to maintain U9's data center support infrastructure. Activities include preparation work for installations, upgrading and maintaining data support systems within the data center environment, resolving infrastructure-related problems and supervising contractor installation work.
Context:
Technology & Information is responsible for development and planning of the long/medium term technology network roadmap and architecture for both network and IT in line with corporate overall strategic requirements and technology strategy and to ensure that all network and it projects are aligned with the medium-term Network roadmap.
The Data Center tea is critical for providing necessary support and maintenance to ensure optimal functioning and minimal downtime of our data support systems and data center environment.
C. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to ensure and maintain the integrity of data center systems
- Perform preventive maintenance repairs and recommendations pertaining to all critical and non-critical plant operations with limited supervision
- Monitor routine occurrences in activities related to the data center to identify and promptly resolve issues as soon as possible
- Review daily report verification for corrective and preventive works in the data center
- Contribute to efforts to improving security and health and safety standards within the data center
- Provide daily support and supervision of network rack installation and power solution
- Support and supervise all vendor implementations and acceptance of new hardware in the data center
- Conduct daily monitoring of data center access and approval processes and Attend monthly security meetings to stay abreast of security protocols.
- Validate data entries and endorsements to maintain accuracy and provide comprehensive reports to audit teams upon their request.
- Provide support for both data center changes related to server deployment and Facilitate rack commissioning and decommissioning processes.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to ensure smooth infrastructure changes.
- Monitor daily energy consumption in data centers and Manage the fuel ordering process with the fuel supplier contractor and Managed Service (MS) vendor.
- Monitor daily solar power output and optimize the generator running hour accordingly.
- Verify and validate daily and monthly fuel order quantities but also Endorse and issue fuel delivery notes to supplier
- Review data center Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Perform reconciliation and provide comprehensive reports to the contract management team on a monthly basis.

E. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS & DECISION MAKING

External: U9 telco and IT network vendor / passive infrastructure vendor
Decision Making
Able to make decision independently on engineering matters by interacting with vendor and be able to identify which decision need to escalate to Higher level and which decision need to make itself
F. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge
- 3 – 5 years' work experience with a minimum of 1 year in a technology operations role
- Working knowledge of data center concepts including electrical, AC/DC systems, mechanical, cooling, security, BMS, firefighting systems, network cabling and transmission systems
- Understanding of Health & Safety regulations in a technology environment
- Demonstrated experience coordinating with 3rd party vendors and contractors to meet delivery expectations
- Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to quickly adapt and react to changing situations, analyze and resolve issues

Minimum Entry Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering or cooling engineering field from a recognized university
