The successful candidate will be part of the team that oversees the operation and maintenance of the electrical infrastructure for Ford's Enterprise Data Centers. In addition to technical operations and maintenance, the successful candidate will oversee facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures.

The role requires a motivated, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems while striving for operational excellence. The work follows a process-oriented approach: the individual needs a strong willingness to learn new processes and adapt to rapidly changing operational scenarios with conflicting priorities.

The successful candidate will be part of the Engineering and Facilities team and will be responsible for; maintaining availability for customers; ensuring maintenance and operation of technical infrastructure; and the upkeep and operation of the DC facility.

Given the critical nature of Ford’s data center operations, major maintenance is performed on weekends. Consequently, this role requires consistent weekend availability.

  • Operational Reliability: Provide technical support to all aspects of data center operations including the operation, maintenance and repair of all mission critical equipment and systems supporting a 24x7 data center operation to achieve 99.9% uptime and 100% compliance with all customer SLAs.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform complex electrical maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on power systems to prevent downtime, utilizing DCIM and BMS tools.
  • Change Management & Procedures: Ensure adherence to all standard operating procedures (SOP), method of procedures (MOP), and emergency operating procedures (EOP) established for the critical environments, as well as the formal change control process.
  • Planning: Assists in the technical review and input on plans for all significant planned and emergency maintenance events for the facility; ensures these activities are executed in a controlled and proven method to ensure the reliability of the critical loads supported by these systems
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and local electrical codes to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Capacity Planning: Review and approve electrical upgrades, ensuring capacity planning aligns with facility infrastructure capacity.
  • Vendor Management: Interface with contractors and vendors for maintenance, installation, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Site Evaluations: Assess Electrical and Mechanical infrastructure in Manufacturing data centers.
  • Design: Design electrical infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide Solutions: Generate recommendation based on site assessments.
  • Capacity, Reliability & Efficiency: Drive & implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability & reliability.
  • Teamwork: Work with other teams (Networking, Logistics, Safety, Security, Business leaders) and operating partners to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize safety, performance, reliability, sustainability and efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in high-availability, mission-critical environments (data centers, hospitals, or manufacturing).
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of power distribution systems, UPS units, ATS, and emergency generators.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, collaboration, and the ability to manage risk under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Industry-specific certifications (e.g., Data Center Certifications or critical power certifications) are often preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to develop solutions and create technical plans on projects.
  • Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to improve quality, reliability and continuously drive down operating costs.
  • Understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment, systems and design related to data centers.
  • Knowledge of electricity and medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience with emergency backup systems (generators, UPS, battery backup).
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance and work order software systems, single line drawings, critical scripted work, and sequence of operations.

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 and ranges from $74,300-166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
