Job Description

Do you want to take senior hands-on technical ownership of how mission-critical data centers are designed, expanded, and handed over for operation?

GlobalConnect is expanding data center capacity across the Nordics and Northern Europe. To support this growth, we are strengthening our Large Projects organization with a Data Center Designer based in Taastrup.

This is a senior specialist role at our highest specialist level. You will act as a technical authority across large data center projects, influence design direction, challenge key technical decisions, and help shape more consistent ways of working across countries.

The role is a hands-on role. You will work directly with layouts, power and cooling concepts, system architecture, technical documentation, supplier designs, commissioning readiness, and operational handover. This is not a technician or installation role, but you should enjoy getting close to the technical solution and being present in the data center environment.

What you need to succeed

  • Hands on experience with data center infrastructure or other mission-critical environments, such as energy, pharma, industrial facilities, or similar
  • Strong understanding of cooling systems and power infrastructure in mission-critical environments
  • Proven hands-on experience with alarm and monitoring systems, including system architecture and integration with critical infrastructure such as power, cooling, and security
  • Ability to interpret, review, and challenge engineering drawings, technical documentation, specifications, supplier designs, and system architecture choices
  • Fluent English. Danish or another Nordic language is an advantage

About the role and the team

You will join a small, senior, and specialized team working across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Germany. The team works closely across borders and is building a more consistent pan-Nordic approach to data center design, expansion, and operational readiness.

In Denmark, this role closes an important capability gap. You will bring deep technical design expertise into a setup that already has strong project management capability. You will work closely with Project Managers, Sales, Procurement, external consultants, vendors, customers, and Operations.

A key part of the role is to act as a trusted technical advisor. You will help translate customer needs into technically sound solutions, challenge assumptions when needed, and ensure that design choices support long-term reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.

What you’ll be working on

  • Act as technical authority within large data center projects, from early concept through commissioning, acceptance, and handover
  • Own and challenge system-level design decisions across power, cooling, controls, alarm and monitoring systems, security, and building interfaces
  • Review layouts, airflow concepts, cooling capacity assumptions, power distribution principles, single-line diagrams, and supplier designs
  • Develop and review technical requirements, specifications, scopes of supply, risk assessments, and design documentation
  • Support FATs, site inspections, commissioning activities, acceptance testing, and operational handover
  • Strengthen standardisation, repeatable technical solutions, and design quality across projects and countries

Who we are looking for

You are a senior mechanical technical specialist who enjoys working with complex systems, high expectations, and decisions that have long-term operational impact.

You are confident in your technical judgement and comfortable challenging designs, suppliers, consultants, customers, and internal stakeholders when the solution needs to be improved. You can explain complex technical choices clearly and help others understand the trade-offs between reliability, cost, schedule, scalability, and operational readiness.

You enjoy working close to the physical technical solution. You are comfortable reviewing drawings, questioning assumptions, calculating capacity, discussing design alternatives, and explaining why a solution will work in practice.

To succeed in this role, you should also be motivated by building trust across teams. The role requires close collaboration with Sales, Projects, Operations, vendors, and customers, especially where expectations, technical reality, and operational needs must be aligned.

Does this sound like you? If so, we would love to hear from you.
