We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our database environments to ensure performance, security, and availability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and support our data-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server databases and related tools to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Design, implement, and maintain database structures, including tables, indexes, and views, to support business and application requirements.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries to improve overall system efficiency.
  • Ensure database security and integrity through access controls, encryption, and robust backup and recovery strategies.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as backups, restorations, and disaster recovery testing to ensure business continuity.
  • Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and stakeholders to troubleshooting and resolve database-related issues.
  • Design and implement data models and database schemas aligned with business needs.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive database documentation, including data dictionaries and schema diagrams.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through validation, testing, and adherence to best practices.
  • Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource utilization analysis, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Generate performance reports and implement monitoring alerts for proactive issue detection.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in database management.
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies to ensure data consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Apply knowledge of relational and dimensional data modeling concepts.
  • Utilize tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSA: SQL Server) are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong understanding of database concepts, data modeling, and schema design.
  • Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL scripting.
  • Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning in SQL Server environments.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices, backup/recovery strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with data governance principles and frameworks is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional travel within the organization to deliver documents or attend meetings.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in an office setting within the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department and requires regular interaction with internal departments, regulatory agencies, and the public.
