Job Description

Data Architect

The Data Architect is responsible for leading and growing data architecture across MECCA, with an immediate focus on supporting the ERP transformation and a longer-term mandate to build enterprise data foundations.

In the short term, the role is critical in reducing delivery risk of MECCA's ERP transformation by ensuring data impacts are clearly understood, aligned, and managed across all workstreams. This includes defining data migration scope, ensuring data quality frameworks are in place, and managing cross-stream dependencies.

In the medium to long term, the role evolves into establishing a cohesive enterprise data architecture capability. This includes partnering with data team and defining data standards, improving governance, and enabling scalable data and AI capabilities.

The permanent role acts as the central point of accountability for data alignment across systems, ensuring consistency in how data is defined, transformed, migrated, and consumed across the organization.

The Role You Could Play:

  • Lead the data architecture strategy for a major ERP transformation, ensuring enterprise-wide data alignment, integrity, and consistency across systems, integrations, and business processes

  • Drive data governance, modelling, lineage, quality, and validation frameworks to support scalable, reliable, and business-ready data outcomes

  • Partner with business, technology, finance, analytics, and migration teams to identify data impacts, manage dependencies, and embed data considerations into delivery planning and execution

  • Shape the future of MECCA’s data ecosystem by guiding data platform, warehousing, integration, and transformation patterns that support analytics, AI, and enterprise decision-making

  • Influence enterprise architecture and business outcomes by translating complex data challenges into clear, actionable insights while establishing strong data architecture practices and standards across the organisation

What You Will Bring:

Essential

  • 7+ years experience in data-focused roles

  • Proven experience delivering data architecture in complex enterprise environments

  • Experience delivering complex data migration, integration, and reporting workstreams within large-scale transformation programs

  • Strong experience in data modelling, data governance, and data quality management

  • Experience working with modern data platforms (data warehouse, ETL/ELT, integration layers)

  • Ability to define and manage data impacts across multiple systems and workstreams

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders

  • Experience working with external vendors, system integrators, and delivery partners

Preferred

  • Experience in retail or consumer-facing organizations

  • Experience in organizations with mature data and analytics capabilities
